Aragalur Research

I was surprisingly delighted to see a photo Album of the temples of Aragalur. It was thrilling to see professionals me the Nandhi & Single stone window of Choleeswarar temple, Aragalur. These 2 are artifacts on which the kids of my age used to play hide and seek or other little games. Was sad to note that the Nandhi’s ear was broken in the recent 20 years (recent as compared to it’s age or even my age!!). I really wish I try to help in preserving our heritage for our kids and grand children. I have not shown these places to my daughter who i sin high school.

I had requested your help in doing research on Aragalur – at the end answering the following 2 questions
Why there are unusually more number of temples at Aragalur (population to temple ratio) than many places in Tamilnadu/India or at-least most places in the vicinity.
Why do folk in Aragalur celebrate Ugadi (Telugu New Year) (Our family makes Kolukattai) as opposed to Tamil New year – even though we don’t have any connection to Telugu/Andrapradesh and we are located reasonably far from Andra.
You wanted buy a digital camera under Rs 10,000 (max) that would greatly help you in your researches.

We also discussed the possibility of publishing the resulting Aragalur research results in print media. I could easily help if this research gets on the internet – perhaps get a web site http://www.aragalur.com/

Let me know how we can take this idea/desire/ambition to the next level. I would imagine a project proposal document from your side and if agreed upon the next step would be funding.
