Adi Dravida hostels to get own buildings

CHENNAI: Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Thursday ordered construction of own buildings for 93 Adi Dravida hostels in the State, which are now functioning in rented buildings, at a cost of� Rs 46 crore. As of now, 42 hostels are ready for construction.

Own buildings will be constructed for the Adi Dravida hostels at Bhavani, Theerthamalai, Kalipettai, Morappur, Dharmapuri, Punnam, Thingal Sandai, Kurumbalur, Neikuppai, Adhanur, Perambalur, Raghunathapuram, Peravurani, Thiruvarur, Savalakkaran, Puthagaram, Sevur, Kolappancherry, Kandigai, Vettikkadu, Gudiyatham, Mallankinaru, Kariyapatti, Panayapuram, Aragalur, Melarani, Erakkudi, Thiruthalaiyur, Bomminaickenpatti, Kadamalaikundu, Mayiladumparai, Andipatti, Kamatchipuram, MK Nagar, Karisalkulam, Achampatti, Paravai, Oomachikulam, Madurai (Govt ITI - men and women), RS Mangalam and Paramakudi.

Now, 1,254 Adi Dravida hostels, 296 residential hostels for Scheduled Tribes and 40 hostels for STs are functioning under the Adi Dravidar Welfare Department and the CM has directed that all these hostels should have their own buildings.
